Following three unsuccessful tournaments in international football, Roy Hodgson resigned as the England boss, leaving a vacuum as the favourite to take over is unclear.

Options such as Gareth Southgate, Alan Pardew and Glenn Hoddle are risky choices, which is why reports have come out that the FA want to poach Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the job.
The 66-year-old has just a year left on his Arsenal contract, and with serious rumours that this season will be his last, the prospect of bringing England back to glory is tempting.

Wenger completed 20 years at Arsenal last season and has a plethora of silverware to show for it, although Arsenal have not won the league since 2004. Arsene has refused to rule himself out of the running for the job, perhaps evaluating up the new two-year contract reportedly offered to him by the Arsenal board.
With some sections of the fanbase running out of patience, it could be a time for Wenger to change course – although his recent actions, signing 23-year-old Granit Xhaka and 21-year-old Asano suggests that his future is still with Arsenal.

In any case, the FA want to get the negotiations completed by July 28, before Arsenal start their US tour.
