Noni Madueke’s England place is under fresh scrutiny before the Three Lions face Panama in their final World Cup group game.
talkSPORT reports that Bukayo Saka is expected to push for his first start of the tournament after being carefully managed through an Achilles issue by Thomas Tuchel.
That would most likely affect Madueke, who has started on the right during England’s opening two matches but now faces a direct selection squeeze from his Arsenal team-mate.
Sky Sports also reports that Saka is fit to start, with Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson passed fit ahead of the final Group L fixture.
Arsenal Watch England Right-Wing Decision
For Arsenal, the Madueke-Saka call is useful either way.
A Saka start would show his fitness plan is progressing exactly as hoped; a Madueke role from the bench would test the winger’s adaptability in a pressure game.
Read Arsenal has already tracked how Madueke’s England rise gives Mikel Arteta stronger Saka cover, and the Panama fixture now sharpens that internal theme.
England’s official match centre lists kick-off at 10pm BST at New York New Jersey Stadium.
Tuchel had previously targeted Panama as the earliest realistic starting point for Saka while managing the winger’s workload.
That makes this more than a national-team selection call. For Arsenal, it is a clean read on two wide options who could both shape Arteta’s title defence in different ways.
