Noni Madueke England Form Gives Arsenal Saka Reminder

Noni Madueke is turning England’s World Cup stage into a useful Arsenal reminder.

The 24-year-old arrived in north London last summer under heavy scrutiny, with some supporters unconvinced by Arsenal’s decision to push through a high-profile move from Chelsea.

Twelve months later, the picture looks very different.

FIFA’s match report from England’s 4-2 win over Croatia noted that the game began with a twice-taken penalty after Madueke drew a foul from Luka Modric.

Sky Sports also highlighted the same key moment, with Harry Kane eventually converting after the Arsenal winger’s early burst forced Croatia into trouble.

Madueke Form Gives Arteta Valuable Saka Cover

That matters for Mikel Arteta.

Bukayo Saka’s England workload is still being carefully managed, with Sky Sports reporting that Thomas Tuchel had planned to nurse him through the early group-stage period.

Madueke’s form does not reduce Saka’s importance. It changes the pressure around him.

Arsenal now have a right-sided forward who can start, stretch games, win fouls and carry direct threat without the entire attacking burden falling on Saka.

That performance is precisely why Arteta valued him: explosive one-v-one running, penalty-box aggression and enough tactical security to fit a demanding wide role.

For Arsenal, this is not just an England subplot.

It is proof that last summer’s uncomfortable call is beginning to look like squad planning with real bite.
