Cesc Fabregas is set for an Emirates Stadium return as Arsenal finalise a home pre-season friendly against Como.
The Sun reports that Mikel Arteta’s side will host the Serie A club on August 12, four days before the Community Shield meeting with Manchester City in Cardiff.
The fixture adds another sharp layer to Arsenal’s compact summer schedule. Read Arsenal has already covered the Borussia Dortmund Emirates Cup test, while the club’s Dublin meeting with Real Betis has also carried clear supporter interest.
Fabregas Return Sharpens Arsenal’s Low-Key Summer
Fabregas made 303 senior appearances for Arsenal before later building his coaching reputation with Como.
His return gives the final home friendly obvious emotional pull, but Arteta will view the night in more practical terms.
Arsenal are managing a disrupted pre-season around heavy World Cup involvement. A controlled Emirates fixture against a technically ambitious Como side offers rhythm, minutes and a useful tactical rehearsal without adding another major travel demand.
The timing also matters.
Arsenal begin their Premier League title defence against Coventry City on August 21, a fixture already framed on Read Arsenal as a high-pressure opening night.
For Fabregas, it is a sentimental return.
For Arteta, it is one final calibration point before the serious work begins, especially with senior players returning in staggered waves after international duty.
