Arsenal have been given a clearer read on the size of the challenge around Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.
The teenager is reportedly prepared to consider only clubs offering him a major role.
That matters for Arsenal, who have tracked his rise while building a midfield group around Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The 18-year-old has already been linked with the Gunners this month. Emmanuel Petit has also urged Arsenal to make their move after the midfielder’s World Cup emergence.
Arteta Must Sell More Than Champions League Status
Daily Cannon has previously relayed reports that Arsenal have spoken to Bouaddi’s representatives, with Lille understood to value him at around €70million.
The same report said Arsenal believe their relationship with Lille could help if talks advance.
What has changed is the player-side filter. Bouaddi’s camp can now measure suitors against development, minutes and tactical responsibility, not just fee size.
That is where Mikel Arteta has a persuasive case, but not an automatic one.
The Guardian’s scouting profile described Bouaddi as a deep midfielder with instant decision-making, interception quality and the frame to control central spaces.
For Arsenal, the question is no longer whether Bouaddi is interesting.
It is whether they can show him a route that feels immediate enough to beat rival offers.
ReadArsenal has already covered how Emmanuel Petit urged Arsenal to sign Ayyoub Bouaddi, and this update sharpens that argument.
Bouaddi may fit the long-term squad build. Arsenal now have to prove he would not have to wait too long to matter.
