Arsenal lost the Champions League final in devastating fashion on Saturday evening, and Mikel Arteta’s attention has subsequently turned to next season.

The Gunners were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in Budapest, with Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes missing the decisive spot-kicks. While this was a gutting blow for Arteta’s team, they still emerged from this season with a Premier League winners’ medal in hand and enjoyed a historic trophy parade through North London on Sunday.

Arteta and Andrea Berta are now looking to build on this season’s success and take Arsenal to another level by bolstering their squad in the transfer window. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on the trophy parade, Fabrizio Romano and Gabriel.

Arsenal break trophy parade records

Since winning the title, it’s become apparent just how large Arsenal’s fanbase is. Gunners supporters from all over the globe have been pictured and filmed celebrating their team’s success wildly, and this all culminated in a huge congregation of fans on the streets of North London on Sunday.

The Arsenal players and staff paraded their Premier League title around the Emirates Stadium area, slowly driving through N5 on a 10km route. It’s now been confirmed that this parade was not only the biggest ever in the United Kingdom, but over an estimated 1.5 million were reportedly in attendance.

These figures were confirmed by the Metropolitan Police, who brought in support from the Manchester and Merseyside police forces to help keep the huge event under control.

Fabrizio Romano provides Arsenal transfer update

Despite enjoying such a successful season, the Gunners are looking to invest heavily again in the upcoming transfer window. Arteta and those at the top of the North London club recognise that they have a window to dominate English football, given their rivals are going through periods of transition across the board.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are set for a major summer in the transfer market. The journalist suggests that work has already commenced on this front, with at least three signings expected.

More additions could be sanctioned depending on exits. Romano indicates that a top winger is the priority, while a midfielder and a right-back are guaranteed.

Gabriel Magalhaes releases statement after penalty miss

Gabriel tragically lifted his penalty over the bar in Budapest, ending Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Champions League. This was the decisive spot-kick, and the centre-back was subsequently brought to tears in the aftermath of the clash.

The Brazilian took to social media to publicise his disappointment at the moment, writing on Instagram: “It’s painful, but I’m proud of this team and everything we achieved together this season.

“Thank you to our incredible fans for your support every step of the way. You deserve to celebrate this journey with us and enjoy the parade today! See you next season! Love, Big Gabi.”
