Arsenal News Today: Nwaneri update, Arteta’s documentary, De Zerbi’s comments

At a Glance:

  • Ethan Nwaneri will join Thomas Tuchel’s England camp in Florida this summer.
  • Arsenal are rumoured to be producing a documentary on their title-winning season.
  • Roberto De Zerbi has made a wild claim which hasn’t gone down well amongst Gunners supporters.

Arsenal are set to lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in 22 years when they visit Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners’ status as champions was confirmed on Tuesday night when Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Mass celebrations subsequently unfolded outside the Emirates Stadium, and further joyous scenes are expected this weekend after Martin Odegaard lifts the trophy.

Away from all of this jubilation, plenty of interesting stories are bubbling under the surface. With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Ethan Nwaneri, a new documentary and Roberto De Zerbi.

Ethan Nwaneri to train with England ahead of World Cup

Ethan Nwaneri has endured a difficult season. Limited to just a few opportunities at Arsenal after the arrivals of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, he was shipped out to Marseille on loan in January, where his fortunes didn’t really improve.

The 19-year-old returned to London Colney this week and is now set to jet off to Florida after the season ends to train with Thomas Tuchel’s England squad. While he wasn’t named in the Three Lions’ official roster for the World Cup, international teams regularly bring additional players to bulk out their training sessions, and Nwaneri has been selected for this role.

It’s likely that this was a deliberate choice from the Gunners and England, knowing that the attacking midfielder needs more training time after a season where he hardly featured on the pitch.

Arsenal rumoured to be producing new documentary

Arsenal’s historic Premier League title-winning season has been documented behind the scenes. Mikel Arteta revealed this week that the club has ‘so much footage’ and that maybe fans will get to see some of it.

Rumours are now circulating that an official documentary is being put together by Arsenal, and it could resemble the ‘All or Nothing’ series that aired on Amazon Prime back in 2023. While this hasn’t been confirmed yet by the North London club, several sources are reporting that it’s on the cards.

This prospective documentary will reportedly include footage from the dressing room, interviews with players, training ground footage, cafeteria chat and large group meetings.

Roberto De Zerbi makes bold claim

As Arsenal prepare to lift the Premier League trophy, Tottenham Hotspur prepare for their final-day relegation dogfight. If the Lilywhites lose against Everton on Sunday, they will lose their top-flight status if West Ham beat Leeds.

Despite this drastic difference in fortunes this season, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has claimed that Micky van de Ven is better than Gabriel Magalhaes. Speaking to the media on Friday, the Italian said that the Dutch defender is the best left-centre-back in the Premier League.

“We took a lot of time [with Van de Ven],” he said.

“I think he suffered maybe too much for the situation of Tottenham this season. He’s a sensitive guy. He’s a good guy. In my time, I think he played amazing.

“He’s the best left centre-back in the Premier League.”
