Arsenal set to offer Mikel Arteta bumper new contract
Discourse around Arteta’s future at Arsenal has been rife during the run-in. Many have argued that the Spaniard should have been dismissed if the Gunners weren’t able to get over the line in either the Premier League or the Champions League.

According to The Guardian, Arteta is set to be offered a bumper new contract as a reward for winning the league. The head coach is expected to receive a proposal that includes hugely improved terms on his current deal, which expires next summer and is worth around £15 million a year (with Champions League qualification).

Some sources indicate that Arteta could be set to ascend into the highest managerial earnings bracket worldwide, alongside Atletico Madrid’s head coach Diego Simeone, who is the best-paid football manager on the planet.
Simeone reportedly earns around £26 million per annum, and it’s believed Arteta may be set to earn close to that. The Gunners boss will become the longest-serving manager in England’s top four divisions once Pep Guardiola leaves City after Sunday’s final Premier League game.
What Arsenal expect to do in the summer transfer window
Arsenal aren’t just preparing to reward Arteta with a more lucrative contract. They’re also set to further invest in the Spaniard’s squad, so that he has better tools at his disposal to build on this season’s success moving forward.
While The Guardian suggest that an outlay of £250 million (which is what they spent last summer) isn’t likely, funds are in place for a marquee signing which could rival the £100 million purchase of Declan Rice back in 2023.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Julian Alvarez in recent months, while the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola have also been mooted as targets. One of these aforementioned three could easily be viewed as this potential big-money signing.
