At a Glance:
- Mohamed Salah’s incredible Arsenal prediction.
- Mikel Arteta’s side have proven him right.
- Arsenal seem to command respect within football.
Mohamed Salah is one of the many players who has witnessed Arsenal’s incredible rise over the years under Mikel Arteta’s stewardship.
In his first two campaigns as Gunners boss, while Arteta won the FA Cup, his side ultimately finished eighth in back-to-back seasons and drew heavy criticism.
Cut to the present and Arsenal could win the Premier League as well as the Champions League this season.
Ahead of the 2025/2026 season, it seemed unlikely that defending champions Liverpool would be ousted in the league in particular, having spent a record £446 million, as per ITV Sport last summer.

However, if there was one man who did not count Arsenal’s chances out as potential title winners was Salah.
Mohamed Salah predicting Arsenal as Premier League title favourites has aged perfectly
Speaking to Sky Sports in August, Salah revealed that in his eyes, Arsenal were the favourites to go and become Premier League champions.
The Liverpool great said: “They are the favourites because the team played together for five, six years. So, they understand each other’s game and they have a manager also in the team for five, six years so when the team is stuck together for that long, they know each other’s game so it becomes easier for them.”
Arsenal could win the league against Burnley if Manchester City drop points to Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, proving the legendary goalscorer right. Regardless of City’s results, the Gunners will win the league if they take home six points from their last two fixtures.
Salah also felt that the advantage on the Gunners’ side as opposed to both Liverpool and Manchester City was that much of their squad was settled, giving them the stability to fire on all cylinders.
The winger said: “Other teams like us and City changed a lot of players, which is sometimes really tricky but again, a team with Pep Guardiola, they’re always the favourites. But my opinion this year is Arsenal, number one.”
Mohamed Salah’s claim shows how well-respected Arsenal are within football
Arsenal have been widely considered boring and their style of play has come under fire from several fans and pundits alike.
However, Salah’s claim about Arsenal shows how well-respected they are within football. Considering the Egyptian led Liverpool to the title last season, he could well have backed the Reds to defend their crown.
Privately, Salah could have discounted Arsenal’s chances to become the champions of England as they have yet to win a trophy since 2020 but the club’s project clearly commands respect.
