  • The Gunners will need every marginal gain they can get against the high-flying French side.
  • The North London club’s supporters have just been given a boost ahead of this showdown.

Arsenal have the chance to add European silverware to their trophy cabinet when they play Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final at the end of May.

The Gunners booked their spot in this showpiece event by seeing off Atletico Madrid in the semi-final, overcoming Diego Simeone’s side 2-1 on aggregate. Mikel Arteta’s team head into the final unbeaten in the competition, winning eleven of their 14 matches so far.

They’ll face a PSG side flying on all cylinders, eager to retain the title they clinched for the first time in their own history last year. Given the quality Luis Enrique has at his disposal, Arsenal will need every marginal gain they can get on the night in Budapest.

Arsenal to wear red in the Champions League final

This will be just the second time Arsenal have participated in a Champions League final, with the last being in 2006 in Paris. The Gunners famously lost that showdown late on against Barcelona, and wore their yellow away kit in the process.

Despite being the designated away team in Budapest, it’s now been confirmed that the North London outfit will wear their red home kit in the final. Some may argue that this should be a given, given that PSG’s kit is largely blue.

However, the French giants released their home shirt for next season late last week, and this new jersey has a huge red stripe down the middle of it. Enrique’s team then wore this kit in their Ligue 1 fixture against Brest on Sunday, prompting fears amongst Arsenal fans that if they opt to wear this new shirt in the final, there would be a kit clash which would force the Gunners to wear their third kit.

The Standard have now squashed these fears, revealing that both teams will wear their home shirts from this season.

Arsenal fans are delighted that they’ll wear their home kit in Champions League final

Although it’s a minor detail, wearing their famous red and white will comfort Arsenal players when they step out onto the pitch in what is likely to be a cauldron of an atmosphere inside the Puskas Arena.

Gunners supporters will also be able to resonate with their team’s identity in this huge fixture, and thus, it’s no surprise that these fans took to social media to express how happy they are that their colours will be represented in Budapest.

One fan wrote on X: “We lost in our away kit in 2006, we are going to win in our home kit in 2026, a perfect script.”

Another added: “Good. We pressure them with our well-known colour.”

One supporter wrote: “This home shirt will be remembered for ever, if we win the Premier League and UCL.”

Meanwhile, another supporter poetically wrote: “Winning is not a debate here. PSG will see red, they will see lightning and feel thunder strikes. They can’t compete.”

The game kicks off at 5pm (BST) on Saturday 30th May.
