The biggest talking point from Arsenal’s 1-0 victory against West Ham United is whether Callum Wilson’s last-gasp equaliser should have been disallowed or not.
Gary Lineker felt David Raya was fouled by Pablo but even so, the pundit admitted that if he was a West Ham or a Manchester City fan, he would be “angry” about the decision. The veteran claimed the Arsenal cohort grappled the opposition players as well.
Arsenal are likely to win the title as they are set to play Burnley and Crystal Palace in their two remaining league fixtures. If the Gunners get over the line, the decision to disallow Wilson’s goal could be one that is talked about for years.
Martin Odegaard was quizzed about the call in the aftermath of the contest at the London Stadium.
Martin Odegaard says Callum Wilson’s goal was rightly disallowed after West Ham vs Arsenal
Odegaard initially claimed that in his eyes, Wilson’s goal was correctly disallowed as Pablo held on to Raya’s arm, impeding the Arsenal number one from catching the ball during West Ham’s corner kick.
The midfielder told Sky Sports: “I think it’s worse honestly for the people watching from home and in the stands.
“When you’re on the pitch, you’re so focused and yeah, obviously, it was a big call and took a long time so it’s always a difficult situation to be in but in the end, we got the right decision and we got the win, so really happy.”
Odegaard, who was sensational against West Ham also revealed that after witnessing how his teammates reacted to Wilson’s goal by vehemently appealing for a foul, Arsenal were sure West Ham would be punished.
“When you saw the reaction from our players, we were quite sure that something was wrong and all we can do is just wait.”
How David Raya reacted to Callum Wilson’s goal
Odegaard’s observation certainly holds weight as Raya instantly complained that he was fouled after Wilson scored the leveller for West Ham against Arsenal.

— Premier League Match Centre (@PLMatchCentre) May 10, 2026
After VAR review, the referee overturned the original decision of goal to West Ham United.
Referee announcement: “After review, West Ham number 19 commits a foul on the goalkeeper. Final decision is direct free kick.”
As per the Premier League Match Centre, the Irons’ goal was simply chalked off because Pablo had fouled the Gunners goalkeeper.
Arsenal will be hoping that their next two league fixtures are not remembered for controversial decisions but convincing wins instead.
