  • Ex-Arsenal star believes the Gunners deserve any success that comes their way
  • Arsenal win over West Ham could see them win the league title, according to one pundit

Arsenal’s Premier League campaign is almost over with the club top of the league, as well as having a Champions League final to look forward to, but is still a very tense time for the club given that two trophies are still on the line.

Not everything has gone the Gunners way recently, with Declan Rice controversially snubbed in an end-of-season award in favour of Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, while the club is still being criticised for having a negative style of football despite a successful year up to this point.

However, it is also an exciting time for fans, given that every match is crucial in the run-in, including today’s match against West Ham.

Here is all you need to know about Arsenal news today.

Pep Guardiola causes a stir on social media after West Ham comment

Pep Guardiola ended his press conference following Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Brentford by exclaiming “Come on you Irons!” and making a hammer gesture, referencing West Ham’s badge in an obvious message of support to the team.

This meant that criticism was directed at the Spaniard, with one commenter stating on social media that Guardiola acted “disgusting and not professional.”

Another stated that the way Guardiola is shown off by the media is unfair when compared to the often negative coverage of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

If West Ham can beat Arsenal, the gap between the Gunners and Manchester City will sit at a two-point difference, while City holds a game in hand and could go one point ahead if they win said game.

Jeremie Aliadiere compliments Arsenal’s overall style of play throughout the 2025/26 season

Ex-Arsenal player Jeremie Aliadiere has publicly come out in support of the way Arsenal have played this year, stating they are deserving of any trophies they do manage to claim by the end of the year, if any.

“Arsenal score plenty of goals by open play, they attack well. They utilise all possible ways to score goals, which has been effective from set pieces at times,” Aliadiere said.

The Frenchman also believes the Gunners’ success in the Champions League could come thanks to their strong backline, while also conceding that not winning the Premier League could derail their continental effort.

“Arsenal have the best defence in the competition this season by a mile, and this counts a lot… Should Arsenal not get over the line in the Premier League, then it becomes a lot tougher, pressure can mount, and it could be a tough evening.”

Joe Cole predicts that West Ham will give Arsenal a tough game, but a victory will massively boost title hopes

Ex-Chelsea player and pundit Joe Cole has admitted that if Arsenal are able to beat West Ham at their ground in what could be a very tough game for Mikel Arteta’s team, the league title could return to the Emirates.

“If Arsenal beat West Ham, I think the Premier League title is theirs… [however, I do] think West Ham will turn up and make it difficult. I can’t see Arsenal wiping the floor with them in this game.”
