Atletico Madrid have the European pedigree to back themselves to beat Arsenal in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The Spanish giants have reached two Champions League finals while winning the Europa League as well as the UEFA Super Cup thrice each and the European Cup Winners’ Cup once; demonstrating their impressive European history.

However, Marcos Llorente praised Arsenal’s identity and expects a hard-fought battle at the Emirates Stadium next week.

As things stand, Arsenal’s draw to Atletico Madrid will satisfy the English club far more as they managed to grind out a result in one of the most daunting stadiums in the world.

However, the side from the Spanish capital remain confident, with Marc Pubill claiming Atletico Madrid will display their quality against Arsenal next week as well.

The Spaniard told Movistar via Mundo Deportivo: “It was a great match, which is what you expect from a Champions League semi-final. I think people have seen what we are capable of and they will see it again there.”

Pubill boldly predicted Atletico Madrid to beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium as well, saying: “I am sure we will get through this tie.”

Mikel Arteta motivates his players using a variety of methods and his ultimate goal must have always been to ensure his side do not buckle under the pressure when crunch time comes along.

Gabriel Martinelli backed Arsenal to knock Atletico Madrid out of the competition as well, admitting that he is confident ahead of the game.

“We wanted to come here and win the game. But at the end, it’s a battle against a really good team at their place. As I said, we take the draw. We are going to rewatch the game and see the things that we did wrong and try to improve for the next one.”

Martinelli concluded: “Yeah, of course, we know how big the club is and we trust in ourselves.”
