At a Glance:

  • Arsenal are interested in signing Anthony Gordon for two specific reasons.
  • Gunners target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s father has spoken out about his son’s future.
  • Andrea Berta was spotted in Istanbul watching Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal are set to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night, with Mikel Arteta’s side eyeing their first final in Europe’s elite club competition since 2006.

The Gunners will enjoy a welcome break from the intensity of the Premier League title race they find themselves embroiled in, travelling to Spain for the first leg of their last-four tie. Atletico are in poor form, losing six of their last nine matches across all competitions, and Arsenal should therefore be confident in their ability to reach the final in Budapest.

While Arteta and his players focus on matters on the pitch, Andrea Berta is quietly working behind the scenes on strengthening the Spaniard’s squad over the summer. Several players are being linked with a switch to the Emirates, with a big window expected in N5.

With that said, here is the latest Arsenal news today, including updates on Anthony Gordon, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen.

Arsenal plotting Anthony Gordon move

It’s been well documented that Arsenal will be in the market for a new left-winger come the summer. The Gunners want to upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and Berta has subsequently drawn up an extensive list of targets.

Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon is among those being tracked by the North Londoners. It’s understood that Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of Gordon, and it’s now been revealed that it’s the England international’s pace and versatility that make him particularly appealing to the Arsenal hierarchy.

The Magpies are likely to ask for a significant fee for one of their prized possessions, and this may ultimately deter the Gunners, as well as the intense competition from Bayern Munich.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s father breaks silence on PSG exit chances

Another left-sided winger reportedly on Arsenal’s radar is Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian has enjoyed another impressive season at the Parc des Princes, and the surplus of wide forwards in Luis Enrique’s squad means the Gunners sense there could be an opportunity to sign the player.

However, Kvaratskhelia’s father has revealed that the 25-year-old isn’t even thinking about a move at this point.

“He’s not thinking about that,” Badri Kvaratskhelia told Kviris Palitra.

“He’s happy in Paris, where he is highly valued and respected by the club. Why should he think about moving elsewhere when he is winning titles with the team and is one of PSG’s key players?

“If PSG no longer wishes to continue the cooperation, we will consider options, but for now, this is not being discussed.”

Andrea Berta in Istanbul to watch Victor Osimhen

As well as a left-winger, Arsenal may be in the market for a striker in the summer. Viktor Gyokeres has underwhelmed since his move from Sporting CP, Kai Havertz continues to struggle with injury issues and Gabriel Jesus is expected to leave in the coming months.

Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen has emerged as a shock target for the Gunners. These links surfaced after Berta was pictured in attendance at the Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce on Sunday.

According to AS, the Italian was in Turkey specifically to watch Osimhen, and has initiated contact with the Super Lig club and the Nigerian’s representatives over a potential move.
