Arsenal: Journalist drops double injury update ahead of PSV Eindhoven clash
Arsenal are back in action tomorrow evening with another Europa League group game against PSV Eindhoven.
Their previous outing saw the Gunners beat the Dutch club 1-0 at the Emirates last week to secure their place in the knockout stage of the tournament.
Now that Mikel Arteta’s side are preparing to take on PSV away from home, it appears as though an injury update has emerged out of London Colney regarding the attendance of two Arsenal figures in the latest training session.
In a recent Twitter post, journalist Kaya Kaynak said: “Marquinhos was unwell this morning and missed training but could still be in the #AFC squad tomorrow. Oleksandr Zinchenko was not part of the main training session earlier.”
With Marquinhos having made an appearance in three of Arsenal’s four Europa League games this season, this highlights how much of a useful figure he has been for Arteta in this competition and why he may be in the Spaniard’s plans for this next game.
While he may have missed this latest training session, it’s positive to hear that he could still be in contention to play on Thursday.
However, the more concerning issue will surely be on Zinchenko, who has been out of action since Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month with a calf injury that he had previously struggled with.
Now that he has missed this training session, it could still take some time for the Ukrainian to get back to full fitness and into the team again.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match, while the pressure will be off Arsenal in some regard as they have already secured their place in the next stage of the tournament, Arteta will surely want as many of his players to be fit and available and still look to secure a positive result.
