Arsenal dropped points for the second time in the Premier League this season as Mikel Arteta’s side drew 1-1 against Southampton on Sunday.

An opening goal from Granit Xhaka put the visitors ahead in the first half, only for Stuart Armstrong to fire in an equaliser in the second period of the match at St. Mary’s.

In addition to this disappointing result, one figure in Arteta’s side that put in a rather disappointing performance on this occasion was Gabriel Jesus.

With the full 90 minutes under his belt, the striker had 47 touches of the ball in total and had four attempts at goal, two of which were blocked with one being off-target.

Having missed two big chances in the game, the Brazilian also failed to successfully complete any of the three dribbles he attempted.

Jesus also ended up losing 11 of the 19 duels he was involved in as well as giving one foul away and getting caught offside on one occasion.

This display ultimately earned the attacker a rather poor overall match rating of 5.8/10 from SofaScore, making him the lowest-rated player to make an appearance in the game.

As well as describing Jesus’ performance as “frustrating” journalist Kaya Kaynak had this to say about it in his player ratings article for Football.London.

He said: “A poor day at the office for the Brazilian who had so many chances to make the game safe for Arsenal but failed to take any of them.”

Now that the 25-year-old has not found the back of the net in either of his past three Premier League games for the Gunners, he and everyone else at the club will undoubtedly be hoping he can find his goalscoring form again and help his side keep their place at the top of the league table for as long as they can.
