Arsenal have shown in recent years how capable they are of signing players from other clubs in England.
The likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all made their way to north London from other clubs across the country in recent times.
With the January transfer window gradually approaching, it seems as though the Gunners have their eye on continuing this particular track record with a potential swoop for another Premier League star.
What’s the word?
According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Arsenal are planning to launch a bid to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans before his contract at the King Power Stadium expires in the summer.
Leicester initially signed the 25-year-old on loan from AS Monaco in January 2019 before securing him on a permanent deal worth a reported £40m the following summer.
In 169 appearances for the Foxes across all competitions, the Belgian has scored 25 goals and delivered 25 assists.
Go get him, Arsenal
Hailed as an “outstanding” player by Telegraph journalist John Percy in the past, Tielemans has played more passes into the 18-yard box (15) than anyone else at Leicester in the league this season. He also has the second-highest number of successful tackles (12) and percentage of aerial duels won (76.5%) at the King Power Stadium, which highlights how useful an all-round midfielder he has been for the Foxes.
Having been linked with a move to Arsenal during the previous summer transfer window, it seems as though the Gunners may have one final chance to persuade Leicester to cash in on the Belgian midfielder before they risk losing him as a free agent at the end of the season.
With Leicester currently bottom of the Premier League table and Arsenal top, a move to north London in January could be rather tempting for the player, which makes launching a bid for him once the transfer window opens a top priority for the Gunners in our view.
