Arsenal are back in European action tonight with an away clash against Bodo/Glimt in their latest Europa League group match.
Their previous outing on this stage saw the Gunners defeat the Norwegian side 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium a week ago, before seeing off Liverpool 3-2 in their subsequent Premier League game, also in front of their home fans.
In terms of how Mikel Arteta’s starting XI could look for tonight’s game, one man who made himself a right nuisance for Bodo/Glimt last week and who we feel should get the opportunity to do it again this time around is Fabio Vieira.
Having started their opening Europa League match of the season against FC Zurich, the 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes against the Norwegian side last week, scoring a goal and providing an assist.
This shows how much faith Arteta has put in the midfielder to do a job for them in Europe and how the youngster has begun to repay that faith with his goal contributions last time out.
Lauded by journalist Freddie Paxton for his “top class” touch, Vieira is certainly someone that Bodo/Glimt will not want to face again, judging by his previous performance against them.
With Granit Xhaka (eight) being the only Arsenal player to boast more key passes than the £45k-per-week midfielder (five) in the Europa League this season, it’s clear that Vieira has the credentials to be a threat for tonight’s opponents and give Arteta’s side a great chance of securing a third European win of the season.
Also, with Marquinhos having a rather subdued game against Bodo/Glimt last week, losing possession 15 times in total and failing to land even one shot on target, putting the Portuguese midfielder back in the team would surely be a wiser decision for Arteta to make than plumping for the Brazilian winger.
