Arsenal managed to add some strength and depth to their squad during the summer transfer window, particularly in attack with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Marquinhos joining the Gunners.
However, it seems as though one of their London rivals have their eye on securing a deal for one of Europe’s top talents to try and strengthen their squad.
It has recently been reported that Chelsea are interested in signing RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku and are close to agreeing a deal with the 24-year-old.
Whether or not that comes to fruition, though, it seems as though the Gunners have their eye on signing a player who could be Mikel Arteta’s own version of Nkunku.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Arsenal have their eye on Club Brugge striker Ferran Jutgla, who is stylistically similar to the RB Leipzig predator according to FBref.
This season has seen the two attackers post an almost identical number of league goals, with Nkunku finding the net seven times in nine Bundesliga appearances compared to Jutgla’s six in 10 league outings.
Hailed as a “baller” by commentator Maximiliano Bretos on Twitter, Jutgla has also been praised by journalist Dermot Corrigan for his “super” goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last week.
To further highlight how capable the Spaniard is of playing at a high level on the big stage, his performances in the Champions League this season have earned him a rating of 7.74/10 from WhoScored, which is higher than the likes of Sadio Mane, Neymar and Robert Lewandowski.
Taking all that into account, despite only being 23, the Brugge gem has shown how talented an attacking figure he is. Regardless of whether or not Chelsea sign Nkunku, securing a deal for Jutgla could be a very smart move for Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy to make in the near future.
