Arsenal are back in Europa League action tonight as the Gunners are set to take on Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side head into this match full of confidence and positivity after beating their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the Premier League last weekend to keep their place at the top of the table.
Their previous Europa League outing saw them secure a 2-1 win over FC Zurich in their first group game of the tournament last month.
In terms of what Arteta’s starting XI could look like tonight, one man who we feel should be in the team is Marquinhos.
After arriving at the club in June, the winger made his senior Arsenal debut in the win over Zurich. The teenager made it a debut to remember and repaid the faith that his manager put in him by scoring the Gunners’ opening goal of the game and then setting up the second.
In fact, his performance ultimately earned him an impressive overall match rating of 8.9/10 from SofaScore, making him the highest-rated Arsenal player on the evening.
This shows just how capable the 19-year-old is of playing in the first team on the European stage and why he deserves to be in the starting XI tonight to see if he can do it again and show the home supporters what he can bring to the team.
Praised by the Gunners boss for his “exceptional” physicality, the teenager certainly seems to have the credentials to be a terrifying prospect for Bodo/Glimt’s defenders to face in north London.
With that in mind and a start for the youngster giving the Arsenal manager the chance to rest Bukayo Saka after he played the full 90 minutes against Spurs on Saturday, offering Marquinhos another chance to shine should definitely be in Arteta’s thinking ahead of tonight’s clash.
