Arsenal have been urged to secure new contracts for three of their most important players, namely, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli.

Speaking to Football Insider, pundit Noel Whelan had this to say on the matter.

He said: “Those three players have to be the priority with the start they’ve made to the season.

“If you’re trying to build something, and you want a squad which is the finished article, those three are massively important.

“Arsenal have to get this nipped in the bud before January and get negotiations underway.

“The chairman, the agents, the players will be sitting down and discussing this. When you’re playing well and sitting top of the table, no one will want to go anywhere else.

“This is a really strong time for both parties to sit down and work something out which will see these young men sign long-term contracts.”

With the three players all starting every one of Arsenal’s league games this season, scoring six goals and providing six assists between them, this highlights just how significant they are for the team and Mikel Arteta.

Also, the trio make up three of Arsenal’s top eight highest-rated players in the league so far according to WhoScored, further showcasing how much they have contributed to putting their side at the top of the Premier League table.

Bearing in mind how clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool have been mentioned with interest in Saka as well as recent reports suggesting that Chelsea have their eye on Martinelli, this additionally shows why securing new deals at the Emirates for these players should be a top priority for the club.

Moving forward, if the Gunners can seal new contracts for Saka, Saliba and Martinelli as soon as possible, this will surely be a massive positive for everyone at the club and their supporters, especially if those players can help Arteta’s side continue their strong start to the season.
