Arsenal have been handed a potential boost to their chances of securing a transfer deal for Brighton & Hove Albion winger and previous Gunners target, Leandro Trossard.
That’s according to a recent report from The Sun, who have relayed comments made by the player to the BBC’s Monday Night Club.
Speaking about what his future may hold, Trossard had this to say.
He said: “It’s difficult to say anything about that now. It completely depends on which club would come. If the opportunity arises, I want to go. But I want to play and not sit on the bench.”
The report also claims that Arsenal and Chelsea have an interest in signing the Belgian, who has 99 goals to his name in 335 club appearances across his career.
Having made 111 appearances for Brighton, the 27-year-old has found the net 23 times and delivered 13 assists in the process.
His latest outing for the Seagulls saw the attacker score a hat-trick in Brighton’s 3-3 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
To further highlight his attacking talent, the Belgium international currently has the same number of shot-creating actions in the league this season as current Arsenal figure Martin Odegaard (27).
Having been hailed by Alan Shearer for a “magnificent” goal he scored last season, it’s clear that Trossard has the attacking credentials to be a useful addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
In fact, with Gabriel Martinelli being the only predominant left-winger at the north London club, adding a figure like the Brighton star to Arteta’s ranks could be just what he needs to add some strength and depth to that area of the squad.
Taking all of this into account, if Arsenal feel that Trossard would be a strong addition to their side and would be able to give him the playing time he’d be after, testing the waters with Brighton over a potential deal should be something they explore in the near future.
