Arsenal have been dealt an exciting transfer boost after it emerged that a World Cup winner could be in line for a bargain switch to north London.
Jerome Boateng is reportedly on his way out from Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, according to Sport Bild.
The German centre-back’s existing deal expires at the end of the season, and Sport Bild claimed that the Champions League holders have reportedly decided against renewing the 32-year-old’s contract – opening the door for Arsenal to sign him in the summer as a free agent.
Boateng has recently been praised for his impactful performances in the heart of Bayern’s defence, with Sport Bild highlighting a recent display in a 6-2 Champions League group stage win over RB Salzburg. Boateng netted the Bavarian outfit’s third goal on the night.
At present, Boateng would be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with another club from January onwards without the possibility of Bayern securing a fee for their asset.
Bayern head coach Hansi Flick recently praised the veteran for his performances, saying: “It has something to do with training and his professional attitude. It’s just nice to see.
“We are all glad that he has worked on himself over the last few months and that he has caught up a lot and that he simply played a very good game here today.”
Arsenal were interested in the summer and could supposedly revive their interest, while Jose Mourinho at Arsenal’s arch-rivals Tottenham are also believed to be pursuing a possible move for the World Cup winner. [Sport Bild]

Boateng alone cannot solve any defensive issues at Arsenal, but his experience and attitude should undoubtedly boost those around him.
At a free transfer, he could represent a shrewd piece of business as a defender with a glittering CV for club and country.
