Everton join Arsenal in the race to sign Milik

Everton have reportedly joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to land Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik this summer.

According to Arena Napoli, Everton have made contact over a potential deal for Milik as Carlo Ancelotti looks to be reunited with the striker.

The report claims that Everton are interested in signing Milik and have already started negotiations as they look to beat Arsenal and Spurs to the prolific Pole.

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with a summer swoop for Milik, who is reportedly valued at €45m by Napoli.

Everton could potentially hold an advantage over Arsenal as Ancelotti worked with Milik at Napoli. They have a pre-existing relationship and Everton could use this to tempt him to Goodison Park, rejecting Arsenal and Tottenham in the process.

Is it worth the trouble for Arsenal? Possibly. Alexandre Lacazette has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid and that could open up a space for Milik in the squad. Milik is also enjoying a better season than the Frenchman, with nine goals in 14 starts for Napoli so far this term. Lacazette, meanwhile, has only scored seven goals in 20 Premier League games.

Milik is also three years younger than Lacazette, offering more potential for improvement in the future. Arsenal could plan their team with Milik in it for a number of years, with the Polish international only recently turning 26.
