Several Arsenal fans have dismissed the club’s reported interest in PSV defender Denzel Dumfries, with a number of supporters not keen on the move.
Reliable journalist Kike Marin confirmed on Twitter that Netherlands international Dumfries was on Mikel Arteta’s wish-list for the summer, with the Spaniard keen to bolster his defensive backline.
Dumfries has been a regular for PSV this season, playing 25 times and scoring seven goals in the Eredivisie for Eindhoven.
Arsenal have been plagued with defensive injuries this season, losing Kieran Tierney, Sead Kolasinac, Hector Bellerin, Calum Chambers and Rob Holding for periods of time, forcing Ainsley Maitland-Niles to deputise at right-back for much of the season.
Moving into next season, Arteta clearly wants to sign an established right-back after having been forced to play so many players out of position this season, and Dumfries appears to be the man that the former Manchester City assistant has his heart set on.
Taking to social media though, a number of fans disagreed with Arteta’s choice of target, with many lamenting Arsenal’s interest.
