Juventus have joined the race to sign Chelsea winger Willian, according to Tuttosport (via Mail Online), although Arsenal could still have an advantage over the Italian giants.
The 31-year old wide man is set to become a free agent this season, having not yet agreed a new deal with Chelsea after disagreeing over the length of the deal.
The Brazilian is said to want a three-year deal while Chelsea are only offering two years, and Arsenal could look to take advantage of the player’s situation.
Tuttosport (via Mail Online) claim that Juventus have now joined the race to sign Willian, although Arsenal hold an advantage, with the report claiming that the player’s family would prefer to remain in London.
The winger also wasn’t known to be Maurizio Sarri’s biggest supporter, which could see Arteta handed another advantage over Juventus, with the former Chelsea boss the current manager of the Bianconeri.
It remains to be seen what will happen in the remaining months of the season, with the Coronavirus disrupting fixtures, but Arsenal appear unlikely to qualify for the Champions League if they are allowed to complete the campaign.
Juventus will be able to offer game time in the elite competition next season, which could give them a slight edge over their London competitors, but ultimately it will come down to whether Willian wishes to remain where he has been for the past seven years or whether he wants to uproot and move elsewhere.
Arsenal will hope it is the former, as with the futures of both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up in the air, the Gunners could focus their summer transfer efforts on solidifying their offensive options.
