Arsenal had a big-money bid for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano turned down over the summer.
The Gunners, who went on to add David Luiz to their central defensive ranks, are still thought to be keen on signing the young Frenchman, with Tottenham also interested.

There’s now been a fresh twist regarding the defender’s future.
According to French outlet Le Parisien, cited by @ZRAFC, Leipzig are open to selling the 21-year-old in the summer.
As expected, the update quickly made its way across social media, however, these Arsenal fans weren’t so sure on a future move, mainly due to the latest links to Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

Twitter: @ZRAFC I like Upamecano but if Koulibaly really is a realistic option for January, he’d be my choice.

Mikel Arteta is in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, however, he might not be keen on waiting until the summer to land Upamecano.
There’s no doubting he has the ability to become a star, but with Leipzig not keen on selling in the New Year, the Spaniard may have to look elsewhere.
It’ll be an interesting January window for the Gunners, and you’d expect to see a defensive signing over the coming weeks.
