Arsenal are hopeful that the imminent arrival of Mikel Arteta will be enough to convince Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang into signing a new deal.
The Metro report that the Gunners do not want to lose the player on a free transfer at the end of his current contract.
Aubameyang is in the final 18 months of his current contract in North London and has previously refrained from entering talks over a new deal.
The striker might need some convincing to stay if the reaction of his brother is anything to go by. Willy Aubameyang publically criticised Arsenal’s decision to appoint Arteta, slamming his inexperience for the role.

Aubameyang’s future will be one of the biggest early decisions that Arteta has to make with the Arsenal board.
He is coming to the end of his contract at the Emirates and given the club’s history of letting star players leave for free, they’ll be keen to avoid the same thing happening again with Aubameyang.

This summer may be the final opportunity they get to move him on for a reasonable fee, leaving the club with a decision to make.
While it remains unclear about how much money Arteta will be given to spend, moving Aubameyang on could increase their transfer kitty quite handsomely, while also reducing a chunk of their wage bill too.
