Arsenal discover the true cost of appointing Arteta

Arsenal will be required to pay Manchester City £2 million in compensation for Mikel Arteta, it has been revealed.

According to the Daily Mail, as cited on the London Evening Standard, a compensation package should be agreed today, with Arteta closing in on the job.

The report goes on to add that Manchester City have no problems with Arteta leaving, meaning a deal should be fairly straightforward to agree between both parties.

However, the Premier League champions are reportedly ‘deeply unhappy’ about the way the move has come around.

The fact that Arteta has City’s blessing to leave and take the Arsenal job is good news for both parties.

It means there shouldn’t be any major hiccups in their efforts to resolve a compensation deal for the Spaniard as quickly as possible. It is of course, in the best interests of both teams to get this resolved as soon as possible ahead of the latest round of Premier League fixtures this weekend.

While the manner of how all of this has panned out may have annoyed City, it’s something that they would’ve been expecting.

This is not the first time that Arsenal have been linked with a move for Arteta and it has been three weeks since Unai Emery was sacked by the Gunners.
