Former West Ham and England man Dean Ashton has slammed Arsenal’s decision to sign David Luiz from Chelsea.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Ashton believes the club should’ve gone after either Gary Cahill or Jonny Evans instead of the Brazilian.
Arsenal should have signed Gary Cahill and Jonny Evans at centre back, both have been available but they signed David Luiz who we’ve all been laughing at for years.
The centre-back position has been one that has troubled the Gunners throughout the campaign.
David Luiz was signed from Chelsea in an £8m deal over the summer and while it looked like a bargain at the time, the Brazilian has done little to impress in recent weeks.

Hindsight in football is a wonderful thing. Over the summer, Arsenal were being hailed for what looked to be a bargain deal to bring Luiz in from Chelsea for such a small fee.
At just £8 million, they were getting an experienced, Premier League winner from one of their biggest rivals.

While at the time it may have looked like a coup, the reality is, it’s another questionable decision on Arsenal’s part, espically after the recent reports that claim they wanted Harry Maguire from Leicester City in the first place.
Luiz is known for his calamitous moments and his lack of leadership at the back this season has left the Gunners screaming out for yet more reinforcement in that position already.
