Tottenham make contact over deal to sign Arsenal target Merih Demiral

Tottenham are hoping to pip both Arsenal and Manchester United to a January deal for Juventus defender Merih Demiral.

Bleacher Report claims that Spurs have made contact with the player’s representatives as he prepares to leave Turin in the new year.

The Turkish international is poised to leave the Old Lady after failing to break through under Maurizio Sarri and he’s previously been linked with both Arsenal and Man United.

The report adds that the player doesn’t want to move to another Italian club, handing the three Premier League sides a huge boost in the race to sign him.

It’s interesting to see Tottenham join the race to sign the defender.

He’s probably not a player that you would consider a typical ‘Mourinho target’, at just 21 years of age, he has barely featured for Juventus all season. Demiral is hardly the seasoned defender that ‘the Special One’ has craved so dearly in years gone by.

You can make a case for Demiral to join either of the three sides, with openings in each club’s defence.

Arsenal will be hoping that they can get a deal over the line after the continued dodgy defensive performances that they have witnessed in recent weeks, it’s a position they drastically need to strengthen in.
