“BTEC Emery” – Arsenal fans unimpressed at Marcelino links

Marcelino has been linked with the Arsenal and Everton jobs this week, however, it seems as if his possible Emirates arrival wouldn’t go down well with supporters.

The 54-year-old has emerged as a contender to replace Unai Emery on a long-term basis while also being named as a possible replacement for under-pressure Toffees boss Marco Silva.

The former Valencia boss has been out of work since September and has reportedly spoken with Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi in recent days over becoming Emery’s long-term successor.

The news quickly made its way across social media, and the thought of Marcelino taking to the Emirates dugout didn’t sit well with these Arsenal fans.

The disappointment from these fans could be purely based on the fact that Marcelino is from Spain and previously managed Valencia, ultimately viewing him as Emery’s double.

However, his dismissal from Valencia came as a major surprise, especially after leading the side to Copa Del Rey glory last season.

It would be a risk, and the Gunners could probably do better than Marcelino, but if he did make the move to North London, it could actually turn out to be a shrewd appointment by the club.
