Mustafi confirms he’d be open to leaving Arsenal

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has confirmed that he’d be open to discussing a move away from the club in the near future.

Speaking ahead of Thursday night’s game against Frankfurt, as cited on the Daily Cannon, Mustafi revealed he could be tempted by an Arsenal exit.

I am still here. I am a player of Arsenal and I’ve got a contract with Arsenal for one and a half more years. I have always said that if there is going to be something where it suits me and if there is going to be something where I want to make a next step then I am open to it and I am open to talk.

Mustafi has endured a rollercoaster of emotions at Arsenal of late. A disappointing run of form saw him fall out of the first-team picture and emerge as a scapegoat among supporters.

This season however, he has picked himself up and seemingly won over the majority of supporters with his performances in the Europa League.

If you had asked Arsenal supporters only a few months ago, there would’ve been only a few who would’ve been worried about the prospect of losing Mustafi.

He was out of the team and by all accounts, was coming to the end of his Arsenal career.

However, he has now won his place back in the squad and is coming off the back of some resurgent performances in Europe.

Even when you take into account the development of Rob Holding and Calum Chambers, losing Mustafi in the near future is suddenly something the club will need to think twice about.
