Luis Enrique has confirmed that he had an offer to join an unnamed ‘foreign club’ before returning to the Spanish national team.
According to El Confidencial, as cited on the Metro, Enrique revealed that he had been approached about the possibility of returning to club management.
Yes, I received a call from a foreign club, although it did not materialise.
Enrique was unveiled as the new Spain manager for a second time yesterday after replacing Robert Moreno.
He had been heavily linked with Arsenal before his return to Spain was confirmed.

There’s no official word that Arsenal were the club involved, but it does back up suggestions that he was previously contacted by Raul Sanllehi.
Given the circumstances of how his first spell in charge of Spain ended, few would blame Enrique for wanting to return and finish the job he started ahead of the 2020 Euros.
Enrique’s return was a move that had been expected to happen for some time, making Arsenal’s interest in Enrique futile at best.
