Arsenal legend Robert Pires has dropped a hint that Unai Emery could be facing the sack in the near future.
Emery is among the favourites to be the next Premier League manager to lose their job after the 2-2 draw against struggling Southampton.
Speaking to Omnisport, as cited by the Daily Star, Pires said:
Everybody knows at Arsenal, even Unai Emery, that they are in big trouble. But [Emery] is a competitor, he knows the high level. He was a great manager with Sevilla, with Paris Saint-Germain, but the situation is not so good.
He is a good manager, I think he will make a success with Arsenal. I hope for him anyway. The situation isn’t so good, but him and the players need to find the solution.

These quotes certainly hold some weight coming from Pires. In fact, the report describes him as something of an ‘Arsenal insider’ – the Frenchman is regularly seen at training and around the London Colney set-up.
There’s no suggestion that Pires knows something that nobody else does, but it increases the pressure on Emery’s shoulders if nothing else.
Pires isn’t the first Arsenal legend to speak out about Emery’s future and if things continue in this manner, he is unlikely to be the last.
