Former Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta remains the early favourite to replace Unai Emery because of a lack of ‘credible alternatives’.
According to The Times, as cited on social media, the Gunners are ‘reluctant’ to make a decision on Emery’s future at this moment in time.
There were yet more calls for the Spaniard to be sacked after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat away to Leicester City.
The Gunners looked bereft of ideas as they were unable to stop a Leicester side that are growing stronger with every passing week.

While there is a shortage of managers available, it remains to be seen if Manchester City would consider letting Arteta leave halfway through the season.
The Premier League champions are already up against it in the title race, sitting nine points behind leaders Liverpool after their defeat at Anfield on Sunday.
He may only be a number two at City, but a highly-rated one at that – they’re unlikely to let him leave without a fight.
The more reports that emerge about the uncertainty that surrounds the Arsenal dugout, the more likely it looks that the club will hold out until the summer to make a decision.
