Arsenal remain interested in £25m-rated Daniele Rugani

Arsenal could still pursue a deal to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, according to reports in Italy.

As per Il Bianconero, as cited on football.london, the Gunners remain keen to sign the Italian, should he become available in January.

Rugani was heavily linked with a move away from Turin over the summer following the arrival of Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt.

However, after the appointment of Maurizio Sarri, a manager he had worked with previously and someone who also tried to sign him at Chelsea, there was hope he could finally nail down a starting spot at Juventus.

Rugani is yet to make an appearance for Juventus this season and once again finds himself out of favour with the Old Lady, a with January exit looming.

He was heavily linked with a €30m move to Arsenal over the summer, but no deal came to fruition.

At 25, he is a player that desperately needs a move away from Turin to really kickstart his career. Rugani has long been touted as one of Italy’s next big stars, but with the necessary game time, he is never going to fulfil the potential that he does have.

To have not played a single game for Juventus this season casts serious doubts about where he truly ranks among their defenders and whether or not Arsenal should be considering him as a target.

Arsenal do have plenty of options at the back and with William Saliba also joining the club next summer, there’s no guarantee that Rugani would even get game time in London on a regular basis.

With the interests of both parties in mind, this isn’t a deal that either Arsenal or Rugani should be rushing to complete.
