Fans give their verdict on suggestions that Chris Wilder should replace Emery

Former Chelsea and Tottenham player Jason Cundy believes that Arsenal should be looking to hire Chris Wilder after Monday’s defeat to Sheffield United.

Unai Emery is under yet more pressure after the result and speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy believes Wilder could be the perfect man for the job.

I’m looking at the way he played tonight [Monday] defensively, that is what Arsenal need.

He added:

If they do get a new manager, could they do any worse than Wilder?

The 52-year-old has earned plenty of plaudits for his work at Sheffield United but is yet to be seriously linked with any bigger and better jobs.

After hearing Cundy’s remark, these fans on social media have offered their verdict.

On one hand, some thought it could work.

While others were suggesting other potential alternatives.

This is not an appointment that we see happening any time soon. Some of the other names mentioned like Eddie Howe seem to be the more realistic options for Arsenal.

However, it is good to see Wilder get the credit for the fantastic start to the season that Sheffield United have enjoyed.

Wilder has done a brilliant job during his time at Bramall Lane, taking the club through the divisions all the way to the Premier League.

As a manager, he should be linked with bigger and better jobs, but Arsenal may not be the right one for him.
