Plenty of Arsenal stars were in action over the weekend looking to make a statement of intent to Unai Emery.
Unfortunately, club captain Granit Xhaka, who has already come in for criticism from a large section of supporters, didn’t do himself any favours for Switzerland.
The experienced midfielder led his country against Denmark on Saturday but fell to a 1-0 defeat, leaving them third in Group D for Euro 2020 qualification.
Yussuf Poulsen struck late on to give Denmark the win, however, it was Xhaka’s free-kick routine alongside former Gunners defender Stephan Lichtsteiner that left plenty of fans talking.
The pair were standing over a dangerous free-kick on the right before they appeared to get confused over a practised routine, which ended in pure embarrassment for the duo.

There are plenty of Arsenal fans who don’t rate Xhaka at all, and his latest antics won’t help him build up his reputation in north London.
It’s an unfortunate misunderstanding, but little things like these on the international stage will stick with some Gunners supporters, and if he continues to make bizarre mistakes over the coming months, as we all know he can, then the calls for the Arsenal captaincy to be stripped from him could get louder.
