Arsenal managed to come from a goal down and beat Valencia 3-1 in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final at the Emirates.
Mouctar Diakhaby was the scorer for the away side, while the strike duo of Alexandre Lacazette (2) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were on target for Unai Emery’s men.
The home side made an error-prone start to the game and were thankful for Ezequiel Garay to miss his opportunity at goal.
The Spanish side eventually took the lead in the 11th minute, when Rodrigo was allowed to head the ball towards Diakhaby in the box. The latter then completed the finish to stun the Arsenal crowd.
However, the Gunners responded well, with Lacazette scoring in the 18th and 25th minute to turn this tie and match around.
Valencia were then denied in the second half by Petr Cech. On the other hand, Lacazette missed two great chances to put tie beyond the opposition’s reach before the second leg.
Aubameyang scored very late on to bring some respectability to the scoreline. After conceding an away goal early, Arsenal have done well to score three and stay just ahead in this tie.
