Arsenal chief believes Ramsey leaving is best for the club
Arsenal chief Raul Sanllehi has revealed that the decision to let Aaron Ramsey leave on a free transfer was the best one for the club.
Ramsey is out of contract at the end of the season and Arsenal will not be offering him a new deal.
The club had a new four-year offer on the table before they decided to withdraw it and are now prepared to let him leave for nothing next summer.
Speaking to Football London, Sanllehi said this:
We really try to analyse and decide the best thing for the club. That is our ultimate aim – to find what is best for the club.
So all the decisions will try to go through that screening and in general it is going to continue that way.
A number of Europe’s top clubs are thought to be interested in Ramsey, with the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich and AC Milan all reportedly keen on bringing him in ahead of next season.
Sanllehi has said that the decision was made with the club’s best interests at heart, despite many fans wanting Ramsey to stay.
The Welshman has been with Arsenal for 10 years and made over 300 appearances for the club. He was also named as Arsenal’s Player of the Season for 2017/18.
