David Ospina’s father addresses Arsenal future

David Ospina’s father has revealed that Napoli are hoping to turn the Colombian’s original loan move from Arsenal into a permanent transfer in the summer, football.london report.

The 30-year-old was one of several first-team stars allowed to leave the Emirates temporarily in the summer under new boss Unai Emery.

However, after a positive start to life in Italy with Napoli, including a Champions League clean sheet against Liverpool, the Serie A side are hoping to turn his move permanent in the summer.

The original loan agreement stated that if the Colombia international made 30 appearances for Napoli, that they would sign the keeper permanently.

Ospina has currently turned out 11 times for his new side, however, talking to the media in Italy, Ospina’s father was asked whether or not Napoli would be willing to sign the shot stopper on a permanent basis even if he doesn’t reach the 30 appearance mark.

Yes, I hear it said here by all the media. Napoli wants to keep it regardless of the 30 games.

He is happy, has a good contract, is doing very well with the whole team and is in one of the best clubs in Italy Scudetto.

He is a very professional and dedicated to his job.

He is living a great moment. We believe it can become one of the best goalkeepers in the world, this is our hope.

Despite just making three clean sheets during his time in Italy, Ospina has impressed in Serie A and with Bernd Leno impressing with the Gunners, Ospina may get his wish with a permanent move away from London.
