Arsenal keeping tabs on England star Freddie Woodman

Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, according to Lee Ryder of The Chronicle.

The shot-stopper made a name for himself as the number one for England’s World Cup winning U20 squad in 2017, saving a penalty in the final.

Snapped up by Newcastle as a youngster, the Croydon-native has been loaned out on several occasions during his career.

Spells at Hartlepool, Crawley, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen have seen the 21-year-old receive valuable playing time, and Arsenal are now reportedly keen on adding the youngster to their ranks.

Despite having Bernd Leno and Petr Cech on their books, it seems the Gunners are eager to plan for the future.

Woodman is currently playing reserve team football for Newcastle, after loan bids from Oxford and Charlton were turned down by Rafael Benitez during the summer.

Despite preferring Martin Dubravka as his first choice goalkeeper, it seems as though Benitez has plans for Woodman.

The Gunners are not alone in their interest of Woodman, however, with Fulham also said to be keeping an eye on the gloveman.
