Mesut Ozil’s superb individual performance saw in-form Arsenal beat Leicester City 3-1 at the Emirates on Monday night. This result puts the Gunners back to fourth position in the league, after recording their 10th straight wins in all competitions for the first time since 2007.
Unai Emery’s men went behind when Ben Chilwell’s cross was deflected in off Hector Bellerin’s foot. But Ozil came into the act late in the first half to equalise for the home side.
The German then took it upon himself in the second half to create two chances for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score and kill the game.
As a result, Leicester City, who were more than decent in the opening exchanges, couldn’t string two passes together throughout the second half.
Arsenal were a bit lucky to not go down to 10 men in the first half when Rob Holding deliberately handled the ball in the box and the referee neither gave the penalty nor sent the centre-back for an early shower, as he was shown a yellow carded moments before.
