Arsenal looking to complete free transfer soon

Arsenal are hoping to complete a deal to sign Gelson Martins sooner rather than later.

According to reports in Italy from Radiosei, as cited on La Lazio Siamo Noi, the Gunners are aware of interest from Lazio.

The Portuguese winger has been identified as someone who could provide Arsenal with some natural width and pace.

Lazio want to sign the player as a replacement for Felipe Anderson, who is a transfer target for West Ham.

Martins is a player in demand this summer following the news he will be free to leaving Sporting for nothing.

Several teams have expressed an interest in the player, but Arsenal were thought to be leading the race to sign him.

Sporting are facing a squad overhaul this summer following a training ground attack by a group of supporters.

As a result, several players have rescinded their contracts with the club. Goalkeeper Rui Patricio became the first high-profile departure after joining newly-promoted Wolves.
