Arsenal striker moves to Germany’s Bundesliga

Arsenal striker Takuma Asano will spend the 2018/19 season on loan at German club Hannover 96.

A story on the Gunners website revealed the news and that the deal is subject to final regulatory processes.

Asano joined the club in 2016 from Japanese side Sanfrecce Hiroshima, with Arsene Wenger describing him as “a talented young striker and very much one for the future.”

The 23-year-old had been very successful in his home nation, twice winning the J-League and also winning three Super Cups.

Asano also picked up the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award in 2015, making him one of the country’s top talents.

Asano was not given a work permit upon his arrival in England, so has spent the past two seasons with VfB Stuttgart.

Across the two seasons, he has only netted five times but was part of the squad that were promoted to the Bundesliga in his first year at the club.

The striker is a full Japanese international and was named in Akira Nishino’s preliminary squad for the World Cup earlier this month.
