French club want to hire Arsenal legend as their new manager

Ligue One side OGC Nice are trying to appoint Patrick Vieira as their new manager.

Nice’s current manager, Lucien Favre, is expected to leave the club this summer and move to German side Borussia Dortmund, so they will need to appoint a successor, and the Arsenal invincible is their first choice candidate.

Vieira is currently managing New York City FC, who are owned by Manchester City.

The 41-year-old had been touted as a potential successor to Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, but he was left unimpressed after talks, feeling they only spoke to him out of courtesy.

Nice look set to finish the season in sixth, meaning they will play European football for a third consecutive season, so the prospect of a move back to France looks rather bright if Vieira chooses to do so.

They are led by former Manchester City player Mario Balotelli who has scored 26 goals for them in all competitions.

One of their star performers, Jean Michael Seri, looks set to leave the club though with Arsenal looking the likely destination for the Ivorian after three wonder full seasons in France.

Vieira moving to Nice would officially rule him out of an Arsenal job that looks increasingly likely to go to another former player Mikel Arteta.
