James Maddison is being touted as Arsenal’s first signing without Arsene Wenger in charge.
The injury Maddisons uffered in Sunday’s season closer at Sheffield Wednesday is not as bad as first feared and he should be available in pre-season.
This will be music to the ears of both Maddison and Arsenal chiefs as they are trying to bring him to the Emirates, fending off rivals for his signature.
Rivals Tottenham, Manchester City, Everton, Liverpool, Southampton and Brighton are also interested in signing the attacking midfielder.

Wenger is set to leave the Emirates following Sunday’s game at Huddersfield and the new manager will want signs they are going to compete.
Beating sides to the England under 21 international will be the first steps to doing this and Maddison would be keen to make an instant impact at the Emirates.
Norwich City manager Daniel Farke previously stated he was expecting to loan Maddison out for this season, so his rise has come as a surprise.
Signed from Coventry in 2016, he scored 15 goals and assisted 11 on his way to being named in the Championship PFA Team of the Year.
