Chelsea join Arsenal in the race for Wenger’s summer target

Chelsea will launch a bid for Arsenal target Aleksandr Golovin this summer, according to reports.

Football.London, who cite Russian outlet Sport24, are reporting that the Gunners will face stiff competition from London rivals Chelsea for the youngster, who impressed against the Gunners in the Europa League this season.

Since making his league debut in 2015, the 21-year-old has impressed in his native Russia, enough to earn a regular place in the national team.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to be ‘personally interested’ in signing the midfielder, whose contract with CSKA runs until 2021.

It is believed that should Golovin move to Stamford Bridge, he will be sent to Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem on loan. They are managed by former Russia manager and close friend of Abramovich, Leonid Slutsky.

However, should he favour a move to North London, Arsene Wenger would be willing to make him part of the first team squad at the Emirates.
