Arsenal deployed many scouts during the international break to have an eye on a number of potential summer transfer targets and their presence was felt at the Stadion Große Wiese as they watched Germany U19s take on Norway U19s in a seven-goal thriller that Norway won 5-2.

Who were Arsenal keeping an eye on? Well, if previous reports are to be believed, they have long-standing interest in Bayer Leverkusen youngster Kai Havertz who played for Germany U19s on the evening. Scouts from Southampton were also in attendance.

Havertz came through the Leverkusen academy and has established himself as a regular in their side this season, netting three goals and providing seven assists in 27 appearances to date, and the Gunners have seemingly moved to the front of the queue to sign him.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best young prospects in German football today and earlier this season he is understood to have visited Liverpool’s training ground as the Reds also consider a summer bid for his services.

Along with Liverpool and Arsenal, Manchester United have also scouted the teenager this season and are interested in signing him.
